We are thrilled to announce the relaunch of our elite AFL football academy program, now proudly aligned with the Essendon Football Club as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU see below). This partnership ensures that our students receive premier coaching and resources, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the realm of AFL.
As members of the Essendon Keilor College AFL academy, students enjoy unparalleled access to a myriad of exclusive opportunities. This includes coveted inner sanctum visits to the Essendon Football Club, providing an intimate glimpse into the professional environment and imparting invaluable insights into elite-level football.
Moreover, our program offers educational sessions covering various facets of the game, such as nutrition and game analysis, led by Essendon Football Academy Coaches and EKC coaches. These sessions are meticulously crafted to deepen players' comprehension of the game and optimise their performance on the field.
For students in Years 7 to 9, we provide weekly academy sessions tailored to developing fundamental skills and nurturing a passion for the sport. As students progress to Year 9, they are invited to enrol in our semester based AFL elective subject, delving deeper into football theory and practical skill development.
Year 10 students can engage in an intensive one-year football program aimed at readying them for the demands of senior-level competition. In Years 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to enrol in the VET Sport and Recreation Football program, acquiring valuable industry qualifications and hands-on experience in the sports field.
In the later years students will also have an opportunity to be part of the SSV Premier Team where students are selected to participate in a shortened season within the Premier competition. We will also have trail matches against other Government and Independent schools who have AFL academies.
