Careers Education

Essendon Keilor College’s Careers and Pathway Coordinators work to support the learning, training, career pathway planning, and prospective employment opportunities of every student.

All senior students:

  • have access to the online Managed Individual Pathway Program
  • attend sessions run by the College Careers Coordinator
  • benefit from one-on-one course counselling sessions

Students can visit them in the McCracken Street Student Service Centre to:

  • plan units of study that maximise options
  • access extensive resources regarding TAFE, University, apprenticeships and career options
  • identify careers using the Course Search link on the VTAC website or job search
  • organise a placement for work experience
  • develop a resume or job application.

Career pathway planning and industry links are facilitated through involvement in:

  • The Essendon Keilor College Careers Expo
  • Try a Trade Day
  • Doxa Employment Pathways input – city excursion
  • Caulfield Racecourse Careers Expo
  • Royal Exhibition Building SPOT Jobs Careers Expo
  • RMIT “Big Day In”
  • Moonee Valley City Council Pathways to Employment events
  • Latrobe University Next Generation Youth Forum
  • Victoria University “On the Road” Bus

We’re really well set up for when we leave here. It’s not just about the right type of learning, it’s about being shown the possibilities, having gateways provided, and options out in the community put in front of us. Having networks means lots of doors open for us.

I love the choice and learning flexibility we have. Our strengths are recognised and channelled into pathways that get us where we want to go.
