Football

65 Essendon Keilor College students or staff have played or umpired VFL/AFL Football since 1947.

Paul Ahern, Tom Sheridan, Kyle Hartigan, Callum Moore and Corey Ellis are among the players we’ve been following and cheering on in most recent years.

Elite Football Program – Select Entry

Essendon Keilor College was the first elite football school established in Victoria in 1999. It involves strong partnerships with the Calder Cannons and Western Jets TAC clubs (part of the elite Under 18’s competition in Victoria) and Victoria University. This provides direct pathways for our students into the Sport and Recreation industry.

Access to the VET Sport and Recreation Football course enables students to combine their VCE with a Cert III in Sport & Recreation and a football development program.

Program outcomes:

  • An outstanding grand final victory record in the prestigious, invitation only School Sport Victoria Premier League Football competition
  • Produced 28 players drafted into AFL lists
  • Over 50 players trying out with VFL clubs and a large percentage of them making the lists

There’s an awesome opportunity to get involved in high level football competition through EKC’s elite program. It’s great for growing talent and being recognised for it. I love the training – it’s second to none. And our team spirit is amazing.
