Our International Students thrive in an environment that encourages academic success as well as the development of the whole person; we aim to produce well-rounded young adults. International Students have a record of outstanding academic achievement at our College.
English Language Centre
Our College has its own English Language Centre on site. Extra “Language Support” classes are held to address the needs of International Students.
Counselling for Courses & Careers
All International Students receive individual counselling when selecting courses. Students can choose from an extremely wide range of subjects. When they are applying for university they are given the same personal counselling and all necessary assistance in completing required paperwork.
To help ensure they enjoy their school experience International Students are encouraged to participate in camps, excursions, sport, drama and other activities. Special events are organised, with their teachers, for the International Students including lunches and dinners to celebrate significant dates in the calendar. Holiday activities are organised.
Multicultural Education Aides
International Students are well supported by staff. Multicultural Educational Aides provide extra support to those students who need to communicate at times in their first language. As well, the aides are available to assist with communication between the families and the College.
Reporting on progress
Each term an “interim report” is prepared by the teachers. A fuller written report on student progress is mailed to parents, with the appropriate translation, at the end of each semester (June, December). Regular communication with the school is encouraged.
International Students stay with families in the local area. Homestay families are carefully chosen to ensure that the student has the best possible experience of life in Australia. Homestay families are given advice and assistance as is required.
