Essendon Campus

Welcome

Essendon Keilor College’s Senior campus located in Buckley Street, Essendon is on the former Essendon High School site. Founded in 1913, Essendon High was prestigious and known for effectively educating young people for their time. Our commitment to understanding the future world of work, and innovating in light of it, means we’re still known for that today.

We provide a comprehensive range of courses in VCE, VET and VCAL to facilitate the aspirations of all our Years 10-12 students. Our specialised facilities and resources ensure students have all they need to excel whether pursuing studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), the Arts, Languages, Design & Technologies, Sport or the Visual and Performing Arts.

Our stimulating adult learning environment fosters increased learning independence and equips students to succeed in tertiary settings. It is further enriched by the shared experience of our local and international students. A deep understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures gives our students a definite advantage in today’s interconnected world.

By educating both heads and hearts, our students are also still encouraged to uphold the school’s first motto: to ‘Live Worthily’. It’s one of our core goals because the world needs graduates, who, while striving for peak performance, live mindfully, ethically and in the service of others.

Transition to the Essendon campus is an exciting and seamless process for students from our East Keilor and Niddrie campuses, as well as the significant number of external students who enrol each year.

The campus is well serviced by all major forms of transport.

Campus Principal’s Message

The senior years at Essendon Keilor College are about further empowering each student to learn, achieve and succeed. We love working with our students as they test their potential and reach for their goals. We train them to appreciate and demonstrate excellence, to love learning and know how to do so with a view to setting them up not just for further study or their first job, but for life.

We do this by providing the safe, respectful and challenging environment that underpins great learning, by inviting students to create and pursue their own opportunities, and by ensuring individual choice and diverse study pathways.

Our professional staff, who so willingly go the extra mile for their students, are highly effective as much more than instructors. They are mentors and coaches, counsellors and advocates. As such they steer students through their studies attending to the whole person; knowing them and caring about their academic progress, personal development and wellbeing.

Our students are also encouraged to develop their leadership potential. They understand that they are first leaders of themselves and then of others. We encourage and respond to student voice, build the self-awareness, confidence and skills students require to lead effectively, and provide the roles and opportunities needed to demonstrate them.

We are proud of both our current students and our alumni. Their continual progress and remarkable achievements are the sum of our efforts and the mark of our success.

Once you’re in Year 10, you’re in sight of the learning summit that will see you through your secondary schooling. You’re welcome to join us for that challenging but exciting journey.
